About Electric City Hauling

A truck, a crew, and a price that doesn't move after we've loaded.

We quote from photographs so the number is real before anyone drives anywhere.

We remove things from properties in and around Great Falls. Household junk, whole estates, construction debris, the hot tub that stopped working three winters ago. That is the list. We are not a moving company, not a cleaning service and not a tree service, and we will say so rather than take a job we would do badly.

The name comes from the town. Five dams on the Missouri put Great Falls on the map as the Electric City long before anyone was hauling junk out of its garages.

How the pricing works

By volume - how much of the truck bed your load fills. Not by the hour, which punishes you when access is awkward, and not by the item, which turns into an argument about what counts as one. You send a photograph, we send a firm number, and that number is what appears on the invoice.

If we arrive and there is genuinely more than the photograph showed, we tell you what the new number would be and you decide before anything goes on the truck. What we do not do is load first and re-price afterwards.

What we won't take

  • Wet paint, solvents, pesticides and motor oil - Cascade County household hazardous waste handles these
  • Asbestos-containing material, in any quantity
  • Propane tanks, ammunition and anything pressurised
  • Medical and biological waste
  • Standing trees or anything needing a saw above shoulder height

When we'll send you elsewhere

If a job wants a roll-off container rather than a truck, we will say so. If a load is small enough to fit in your own pickup and the landfill is ten minutes away, we will say that too. If there is real value in an estate, an estate sale company should see it before we do. Losing those jobs costs us less than the reputation for taking them.

Why This Trade Has the Reputation It Has

Junk removal has almost no barrier to entry. A truck and a phone number is the whole setup, which means the field turns over constantly and a lot of the operators you call this year were not doing this last year. That is not automatically bad - plenty of good ones start that way - but it does explain the pattern of complaints.

The complaints are consistent and they are rarely about the hauling. They are about a price that changed once the truck was loaded. About a crew that took the easy items and left the heavy ones. About a driveway with a scatter of debris still on it. About material that was supposed to be donated and visibly was not.

Our answers to those are the four things on our home page, and they are deliberately boring: the quote is the price, you don't move anything, we tell you when it isn't us, and the place is clean when we leave. None of that is clever. It is just the list of ways this job usually goes wrong, written down as commitments.
