Most jobs we do are this one. Something has accumulated - in a spare room, along the side of the garage, at the end of the driveway - and getting rid of it needs a truck, two people and an afternoon that nobody has. We quote by volume from a photograph, drive out, load it and sweep the space before we go.

Volume means how much of the truck bed your load takes up, and it is the honest way to price this. Hourly billing punishes you when access is awkward. Per-item pricing turns into an argument about what counts as an item. A quarter of a truck is a quarter of a truck whether it is one broken hot tub or forty bags of clothes.

What Fills Trucks in This Town

The pattern here is detached-garage storage. A great deal of Great Falls housing is mid-century single-story with a separate garage or a carport out back, and that building is where things go when they stop being used but nobody is ready to decide about them. Ten or twenty years later somebody is selling the house, or a knee gives out, and the decision arrives all at once.

Do you charge by weight?

No. Weight pricing is where people get caught out, because a load of soaked carpet or roofing shingles weighs several times what it looks like. We price by the space it takes in the truck, which you can see in your own photograph.

Can you take just one thing?

Yes, and single-item pickups are a real part of what we do. It costs $85 to $140 depending on what it is and whether it is at the curb or up a flight of stairs.

What if there's more than I said?

We tell you on the spot what the new number would be and you decide. What we do not do is load it first and hand you a bigger invoice afterwards.
